About this trip
Segara is a 28-metre wooden phinisi with a 4-metre beam, built in 2020 and refitted in 2024. That size places it firmly in the superior class, roomier than the budget fleet without luxury pricing. It carries up to 14 guests across 6 cabins, run by a crew of 5, at a cruising speed of 7 to 10 knots.
What sets Segara apart from most boats at this level is that the cabins are not uniform. Six cabins, six different prices, from a four-berth Sharing Cabin up to a Master Cabin with balcony. A group can sail together on the same boat even when everyone's budget is different, because the route is identical for every guest. Only the bedroom changes. That setup suits solo travellers joining on their own, couples, and mixed friend groups where some want to save and others want comfort.
Technical Specifications
Hull type: wooden phinisi. Class: Superior. Built 2020, last refit 2024. Length 28 metres, beam 4 metres. Cruising speed 7 to 10 knots. Fresh water capacity 7,000 litres. Crew of 5. Guest capacity 14 across 6 cabins. Main engine and power supply are not recorded in the operator's documents.
Cabin Types and Configuration
Prices below are per person for the 3 days 2 nights trip.
- •Master Cabin Balcony, 2 guests, ensuite, air conditioned, IDR 4,750,000.
- •Deluxe Cabin, 2 guests, ensuite, air conditioned, IDR 4,250,000.
- •Superior Cabin 1, 2 guests, ensuite, air conditioned, IDR 3,750,000.
- •Superior Cabin 2, 2 guests, ensuite, air conditioned, IDR 3,750,000.
- •Standard Cabin, 2 guests, shared bathroom, air conditioned, IDR 3,250,000.
- •Sharing Cabin, 4 guests, ensuite, air conditioned, IDR 2,750,000.
Five of the six cabins are ensuite. The only one using a shared bathroom is the Standard Cabin, and notably it is not the cheapest option. The Sharing Cabin costs less and still has its own bathroom, with four berths per room. For solo travellers and couples who do not mind sharing a room with other guests, it is the cheapest way to get an ensuite on this boat. All six cabins are air conditioned.
Facilities and Safety Standards
A 5-metre tender with a Yamaha 15 HP outboard, capacity 8 to 10, is used for snorkeling drops and island landings. Snorkeling equipment is provided for all guests. Navigation is a Garmin 585 GPS with VHF radio. Safety equipment covers life jackets, life buoys, a life raft, a fire extinguisher and a first aid kit. Emergency communication is by marine radio. Hot water is not recorded in the operator's documents, so we do not guarantee it yet. Ask on WhatsApp before booking and we will check with the boat.
Route and Sailing Itinerary
Segara runs the main Komodo National Park route over 3 days and 2 nights, covering Padar Island, Pink Beach, Manta Point, and Kalong Island for the sunset bat migration. At a cruising speed of 7 to 10 knots, the daily order of stops is set by the captain around tides and wind direction rather than forced into rigid hours. The sequence can therefore shift between departures in the interest of comfort and safety. Because it carries 14 guests at most, the tender reaches Padar in a single run.

Day 15 stops
- 10:00-11:00 - Board at Labuan Bajo harbour, meet the crew and see your cabin.
- Kelor Island - Climb to the ridge. Short but steep, and from the top you see the islands scattered around.
- Manjarite - Snorkelling in sheltered water, a longer stop because this is the first swim of the trip.
- Kalong Island - The boat moors in the late afternoon, then thousands of flying foxes leave the mangroves together as the sun drops.
- Overnight on board, first night.

Day 26 stops
- Padar Island - Wake in the dark to hike to the top and watch three bays curve away from each other at sunrise.
- Pink Beach - Swimming and snorkelling off the pink sand.
- Komodo Island - Trekking with a ranger to see the dragons where they actually live.
- Taka Makassar - A sandbank in open water, with snorkelling around it.
- Manta Point - Snorkelling to look for manta rays. They are wild so nothing can be promised, but this is where they turn up most often.
- Overnight on board, second night.

Day 33 stops
- Kanawa Island - One last snorkel in the shallow water by the jetty before the sail back.
- Sail back to Labuan Bajo.
