Sabbar Cruise is a sailing boat with three lime-green sails, easy to spot from a distance on the water off Labuan Bajo. It is small and quiet: up to 8 guests in 3 air-conditioned cabins, so the boat feels like your own group.
She was built on Pagerungan Island in East Java and runs partly on solar panels. Up top there is a sun deck with bean bags for the sunset; inside, a dining room with a wooden table and cushioned bench seating. A stand-up paddleboard and snorkeling gear are on board.
The 3-day, 2-night open trip leaves from Labuan Bajo. Day one: a short hike on Kelor Island, snorkeling at Manjarite, then the late afternoon at Kalong Island as thousands of flying foxes leave the mangroves. Day two starts with a sunrise hike on Padar, then a swim at Pink Beach, a ranger-led walk on Komodo Island, Manta Point and Taka Makassar. Day three is a last snorkel at Kanawa before heading back to Labuan Bajo. The order of stops can change with the weather, and that is the captain's call.
The open trip is IDR 5,500,000 per person in any cabin. Cabin 1 and Cabin 2 have a queen bed for 2; Cabin 3 sleeps 2 to 4. Children under 2 travel free.
