About this trip

Carnaby II is a luxury-class two-masted wooden phinisi, 32 metres long and 6.5 metres wide. The trip runs 3 days and 2 nights from Labuan Bajo around Komodo National Park, from IDR 6,500,000 per person.

The boat has 10 cabins for up to 21 guests. Every cabin is air-conditioned with an en-suite bathroom and hot shower, so even the most affordable one is comfortable after a day in the water.

What are the cabins?

Two Master Cabins, Bira and Tanaberu, sit on the upper deck. They face the sea, have a double bed and a private balcony with a bathtub. IDR 9,500,000 per person, minimum 2 people.

Two Suite Cabins, Takalar and Bantaeng, sit on the main deck. Ocean view, private balcony with a bathtub and a double bed, IDR 8,750,000 per person.

One Deluxe Cabin, Bulukumba, on the upper deck faces the sea with a double bed, IDR 8,000,000 per person.

Four Superior Cabins, Gowa, Maros, Sinjai and Bone, are on the lower deck. Double bed, IDR 6,500,000 per person, the lowest price on board.

Family Cabin Wajo on the lower deck has a double bed and a single bed. IDR 6,750,000 per person for two, and a third person pays IDR 5,500,000.

Departures in 2027 cost a little more, and the price on this page follows the date you pick.

What is the boat like?

A 32 metre wooden hull with a Mitsubishi 8DC11 engine, cruising at 6 to 10 knots. The fresh water tank holds 12 tons, enough for hot showers every day. The upper deck has a square jacuzzi and a sundeck with sunbeds, parasols and beanbags. Inside is a lounge with sofas, a TV and karaoke. Meals are served at a long table in the open-air dining area facing the sea, and there is BBQ equipment. Starlink Wi-Fi is on board.

Want to play in the water? There are paddleboards, a transparent canoe and snorkelling gear. A speedboat takes you to the beaches and snorkel spots.

How about safety?

The boat carries life jackets, lifebuoys, a life raft, fire extinguishers and CCTV. Navigation is GPS, with marine and HF radios that carry a distress signal.

Where does the route go?

Day one is boarding in Labuan Bajo, a swim stop at Bidadari Island, a snorkel at Manjarite, a short trek on Kelor Island and an evening at Kalong Island as thousands of flying foxes lift off at sunset. Day two is a ranger-led trek on Rinca Island to see the Komodo dragons, a snorkel at Manta Point, time on Long Pink Beach and a late-afternoon trek on Padar Island. Day three is a snorkel at Sebayur Island, then back to Labuan Bajo. The order can change with sea conditions.

What is included?

Harbour transfer, full use of the boat, crew and cruise director, three meals a day, free-flow coffee, tea and mineral water, snacks and fruit, a towel, life jackets, snorkelling gear, a tour guide, and photos and video by camera, GoPro and drone.

Not included: Komodo National Park and Padar Island entrance fees, the park drone fee, flights, hotels before and after the trip, travel insurance, dive insurance for scuba, alcoholic drinks, personal expenses and crew tips.

Who is it for?

Couples who want a balcony cabin with a bathtub, small families who need a cabin for three, and groups who want a luxury boat without chartering the whole thing.
