About this trip

Andalucia 2 is a luxury-class wooden phinisi sailing from Labuan Bajo on 3 day, 2 night open trips through Komodo National Park. Prices start at IDR 4,800,000 per person.

The boat is 26.5 metres long and 5 metres wide, built in 2020 and redesigned in 2024. There are 6 cabins for 14 guests, up to 18 with extra beds. Every cabin has air conditioning, an ensuite bathroom with a hot shower, and fast internet access.

What are the cabins like?

The Sharing Room has 4 single beds of 90 x 200, at IDR 4,800,000 per person. It is the best value if you travel solo or as four friends.

There are two Private Rooms on the lower deck with a 120 x 200 queen bed, at IDR 11,000,000 per room for two. They suit couples who want their own room at the lightest price.

There are two Ocean View Rooms on the upper deck with a 120 x 200 queen bed, a wide window onto the sea and a private balcony. They cost IDR 14,000,000 per room and can take one extra bed at IDR 4,000,000 per person, so three can share.

There is one VIP Room, with a 180 x 200 king bed, a private balcony and its own bathtub facing the sea. It costs IDR 16,500,000 per room and can take up to two extra beds at IDR 5,000,000 per person.

Who is it for?

Couples who want a soak while looking at the islands usually take the VIP Room. Three travellers fit best in an Ocean View Room with one extra bed. Two on a tighter budget should take a Private Room. Solo travellers pay least in the Sharing Room.

How is it different from other phinisi?

Andalucia 2 is a comfortable size with only 6 cabins, so it feels more personal and the crew get to know every guest. Every cabin, the Sharing Room included, has its own bathroom with hot water, so there is no queueing. The two Ocean View Rooms and the VIP Room have their own balconies, which is rare on a phinisi this size.

The operator, Andalucia Charter, states more than 15,000 hours of sailing and more than 10,000 guests welcomed. The boat sails in the same fleet as Andalucia 3, so the service standard and open trip route are the same.

What is the boat like?

There is an indoor dining room with a long table and windows to the sea, an open-deck dining table for meals with the Komodo hills in view, and a sun deck to relax on. The boat carries one dinghy to take you ashore and is run by 6 licensed crew.

Safety gear is complete: life jackets, a liferaft, lifebuoys, fire extinguishers, smoke and heat detectors, flares, an EPIRB and a SART. Navigation is by GPS and AIS with VHF radio.

Where does it go?

On day one you board in Labuan Bajo, snorkel at Manta Point, stop at the Taka Makassar sandbar and spend the late afternoon on Padar Island. You sleep on board.

Day two goes to Komodo Island to see the dragons with a ranger, Penga Island, a swim at Pink Beach, and an evening at Kalong Rinca waiting for the bats to fly out of the mangroves.

Day three is snorkelling at Manjarite and a short hike on Kelor Island before heading back to Labuan Bajo. If you fly out that day, book a flight no earlier than 12.30. The order can change with the weather and currents.

What about meals and facilities?

Included are transfers, a welcome drink, meals on board, snacks and juice, soft drinks, snorkelling gear, life jackets, bath towels, a guide and photos.

Not included: flights, the Komodo National Park entrance fee, travel insurance, personal spending and crew tips. If diesel rises well above IDR 30,000 per litre, the operator may add a fuel surcharge. You can add the national park ticket at checkout.
