About this trip
Amore is a deluxe-class two-masted wooden phinisi, 26.5 metres long. The trip runs 3 days and 2 nights from Labuan Bajo around Komodo National Park, from IDR 3,350,000 per person.
The boat has 6 cabins and all six have their own bathroom, so even the most affordable sharing cabin comes with a shower of its own.
What are the cabins?
Two Master Cabins, one on the upper deck and one on the main deck, each with a double bed, IDR 4,500,000 per person. The main-deck one takes one extra bed, IDR 2,750,000 for a third person.
Two Private Cabins, upper deck and main deck, double bed, IDR 4,000,000 per person.
Sharing Cabin 3 has a double bed with a single bunk above it, for 3 people. Sharing Cabin 4 has two stacked double bunks, for 4 people. Both are IDR 3,350,000 per person, the lowest price on board.
What is the boat like?
A 26.5 metre wooden hull, 5 metres wide, a Mitsubishi 6D14 engine and a 3,000 litre fresh water tank. There is a lounge with cushioned sofas facing the sea, a dining area with a long wooden table, and a sundeck with beanbags under a shade net. Karaoke fills the evenings. A fibreglass speedboat takes you to the beaches and snorkel spots. Navigation is compass, GPS and radio, and the boat carries life jackets, a liferaft and fire extinguishers.
Where does the route go?
Day one starts with an airport pickup, then boarding, a hike on Kelor Island, a snorkel at Manjarite and an evening at Kalong Island as thousands of flying foxes lift off at sunset. Day two is sunrise on Padar Island, Pink Beach, a ranger-led walk on Komodo Island, Manta Point and an afternoon at Taka Makassar. Day three is snorkelling at Sebayur and Kanawa, then back to Labuan Bajo. The order can change with sea conditions.
The Amore open trip departs twice a week: Friday to Sunday, and Monday to Wednesday.
What is included?
Airport or hotel transfer twice within the city area, meals, snacks and drinks, and snorkelling gear. Not included: the Komodo National Park entrance ticket, arranged by the Open Trip Komodo team, a fuel surcharge of IDR 350,000 per person, flights, and hotels before or after the trip.

Day 15 stops
- 10:00-11:00 - Board at KP3 Harbour in Labuan Bajo, meet the crew and settle into your cabin.
- Kelor Island - An easy trek up the ridge. Short but steep, and the cluster of islands opens up from the top.
- Manjarite - A relaxed snorkel in clear water over shallow reef and reef fish.
- Kalong Island - We anchor in the late afternoon and wait for thousands of flying foxes to leave the mangroves as the sun drops.
- Overnight on board.

Day 26 stops
- Padar Island - We leave in the dark to catch sunrise. The climb is real, and what waits at the top is the three-bay view Komodo is known for.
- Pink Beach - The sand is pink from broken coral. You can swim and snorkel straight off the beach.
- Komodo Island - A trek with a national park ranger to see the dragons in their own habitat. The ranger sets the route and the distance.
- Manta Point - A swim looking for manta rays. It depends on the current and the sea that day.
- Taka Makassar - A sandbar that surfaces at low tide, good for photos and a snorkel along its edge.
- Overnight on board.

Day 33 stops
- Kanawa or Siaba Island - A last snorkel in clear water. Turtles pass through Siaba often.
- Around 11:00 - Back alongside at KP3 Harbour in Labuan Bajo.
- That leaves room for an afternoon flight, but do not book one too tight.
