About this trip
Diara La Oceano is a 20 metre wooden phinisi based in Labuan Bajo. The trip is 3 days and 2 nights around Komodo National Park, sleeping on board. Prices start at IDR 3,250,000 per person.
What sets Diara La Oceano apart: it is a small boat and every cabin has its own bathroom. There are only 5 cabins for up to 12 guests, looked after by 6 crew. Even the cheapest cabin, the Sharing Room, has a bathroom inside, so there is no queue for a shared toilet in the middle of the night.
What is the boat like?
It is 20 metres long and 4.2 metres wide, built from teak and ironwood in the phinisi style. The hull is white with a wooden superstructure and a single mast at the bow. Cruising speed is 8 to 10 knots.
Power on board comes from a Mitsubishi PS100 generator. The fresh water tank holds 5,000 litres and the fuel tank 1,000 litres, enough for a multi-day trip without stopping to refill. Navigation is by GPS, compass and sea charts, with SSB and VHF radio. A speedboat with a Yamaha 15 HP engine takes you to the beaches.
Safety equipment: a life raft, life jackets, fire extinguishers and a first aid kit.
Who is it right for?
If there are two of you, take a Deluxe. Queen bed, private bathroom, and windows straight onto the sea.
If you are travelling alone, the Sharing Room is the answer. You pay per person and share the cabin with other guests, so you do not need to find a travel partner first.
If there are four of you and you want to save, one Sharing Room fits 4 people at IDR 3,250,000 each. That is IDR 1,000,000 less per person than Deluxe.
If your group is 10 to 12 people, look at the charter section below. The whole boat is just your group.
What are the cabins like?
There are 2 cabin types. The route is the same, only the cabin changes.
Deluxe Room Ocean View, IDR 4,250,000 per person. There are 4 of them: 3 on the main deck and 1 on the upper deck. The main deck rooms have wooden walls and a row of windows facing the sea. The upper deck room has white walls and more light. All have a queen bed for 2, air conditioning and a private bathroom.
Sharing Room Ocean View, IDR 3,250,000 per person. Just 1 cabin on the main deck, with 2 queen beds stacked as bunks and a wooden ladder, for 4 people. Air conditioning and a private bathroom here too. Light comes in through a round window, so the room is shadier.
If you get seasick easily, choose a main deck cabin. The lower the cabin, the less it usually rolls.
What about meals and facilities?
Three meals a day are included, plus snacks. Coffee, tea, milk and mineral water are free flow. Meals are served in the covered dining area on deck, a long wooden table with sofas facing the sea, shared with the other guests.
Free to use: snorkelling gear, a canoe, a speaker and karaoke set, a water dispenser and a fridge. There is also a lounge area on the upper deck for sunset. A guide stays with you for the whole trip, and there are life jackets for every guest.
Not included: flights, hotels in Labuan Bajo, travel insurance, alcohol, personal expenses, crew tips, the Komodo National Park entry fee, and the ranger fee paid on site.
Where does the route go?
Day one you board at KP3 Harbour in Labuan Bajo between 10:00 and 11:00, then a short trek on Kelor Island, a snorkel at Manjarite, and thousands of flying foxes leaving Kalong Island as the sun goes down.
Day two is the full one: sunrise on top of Padar, a swim at Pink Beach, a ranger-led trek to see the dragons on Komodo Island, looking for manta rays at Manta Point, and the Taka Makassar sandbar.
Day three is a last snorkel at Kanawa or Siaba, then back in Labuan Bajo around 11:00. That still works for an afternoon flight, as long as it is not too tight. The order can shift with the weather and currents, and the captain makes that call.
Can I charter the whole boat?
Yes. Diara La Oceano also runs private charters for 1 to 12 people, from 2 days 1 night up to 4 days 3 nights. The exact price depends on the length of the trip and the dates, so our team sends it on WhatsApp once your dates and group size are clear. For groups of 10 to 12, a charter often makes more sense than joining the open trip.
How do I book?
You can book Diara La Oceano right on this page: pick a date, pick a cabin, pay in full. Your cabin is locked once the payment goes through. If your date is already full, our team will help you find a comparable boat.
To avoid scams, always book through this website or the official opentripkomodo.net number, +62 813 5347 7978.
The Komodo National Park ticket (IDR 350,000 for Indonesian citizens or IDR 650,000 for foreign visitors) is not included in the price. You can pay for it at checkout if you want to sort it out at the same time.

Day 15 stops
- 10:00-11:00 - Board at KP3 Harbour in Labuan Bajo, meet the crew and settle into your cabin.
- Kelor Island - An easy trek up the ridge. Short but steep, and the cluster of islands opens up from the top.
- Manjarite - A relaxed snorkel in clear water over shallow reef and reef fish.
- Kalong Island - We anchor in the late afternoon and wait for thousands of flying foxes to leave the mangroves as the sun drops.
- Overnight on board.

Day 26 stops
- Padar Island - We leave in the dark to catch sunrise. The climb is real, and what waits at the top is the three-bay view Komodo is known for.
- Pink Beach - The sand is pink from broken coral. You can swim and snorkel straight off the beach.
- Komodo Island - A trek with a national park ranger to see the dragons in their own habitat. The ranger sets the route and the distance.
- Manta Point - A swim looking for manta rays. It depends on the current and the sea that day.
- Taka Makassar - A sandbar that surfaces at low tide, good for photos and a snorkel along its edge.
- Overnight on board.

Day 33 stops
- Kanawa or Siaba Island - A last snorkel in clear water. Turtles pass through Siaba often.
- Around 11:00 - Back alongside at KP3 Harbour in Labuan Bajo.
- That leaves room for an afternoon flight, but do not book one too tight.
