About this trip

Vhalé is a luxury-class wooden boat that started sailing in August 2025. It leaves from Labuan Bajo on 3 day, 2 night trips through Komodo National Park. Prices start at IDR 4,450,000 per person.

What sets Vhalé apart is how wide its price range is for a single boat. A bed in the sharing cabin is IDR 4,450,000, the balcony cabin is IDR 8,950,000. So a solo traveller and a group after the best cabin can ride the same boat, eat at the same table and follow the same route.

What is the boat like?

The hull is white with a yellow stripe, the upper structure is timber, and there are no masts. It looks more like a wooden motor boat than a phinisi, which leaves the top deck open. There are 12 cabins over three levels, looked after by 9 crew.

Power comes from a Mitsubishi PS120 generator. Navigation is by Garmin GPS and communication by VHF radio. A speedboat with a Yamaha 40 HP engine runs you to the beaches and snorkelling spots. Safety gear covers life jackets and a life raft.

Who is it right for?

Travelling alone? Take Coral Sharing. You get one bed in a lower deck cabin shared with other guests, at IDR 4,450,000, the lowest price on board.

Coming as a couple? Pacific at IDR 6,200,000 per person gives you a double bed and a private bathroom. For a roomier cabin with an armchair, Oceanic is IDR 7,450,000.

For a honeymoon or a birthday, Atlantic is the one. It is the only cabin with a private balcony.

Groups of friends who want to save but still keep a cabin to themselves can pick Coral, a bunk cabin with a private bathroom, at IDR 5,700,000 per person.

What are the cabins like?

Atlantic is on the upper deck. It has a queen bed, a sofa, a private bathroom and a long run of sea-facing windows. In front of the cabin is a covered private balcony with a daybed and yellow cushions. Sitting out there in the late afternoon watching the other boats come in is what you are paying for. IDR 8,950,000 per person.

Oceanic is on the main deck, with a queen bed, a blue armchair and a private bathroom. IDR 7,450,000.

Pacific is also on the main deck, with a double bed, two windows and a private bathroom. It is more compact than Oceanic and IDR 1,250,000 per person cheaper.

Azure is on the upper deck, a double bed with timber walls and decorative panels. The bathroom is outside the cabin and shared. That is why it costs IDR 5,200,000, less than Coral, which has its own bathroom.

Coral is on the lower deck, with bunk beds and a private bathroom. It is IDR 5,700,000 per person if you take the cabin for yourselves, or IDR 4,450,000 per bed as Coral Sharing.

Every cabin has air conditioning and hot water.

What about meals and facilities?

The crew cook every meal on board, and snacks, coffee, tea and drinking water are there whenever you want them. There are two places to eat. An open dining deck with a long table and a wraparound sofa facing the sea, and an air-conditioned indoor dining room with timber walls for when the wind picks up.

On the bow is a sundeck with blue and white striped mattresses for lying out while the boat is moving. Snorkelling gear, life jackets and paddle boards are yours to use at no extra cost. Hotel or airport transfers within Labuan Bajo town are included.

The full list of what is and is not included sits in the Included and Not Included section of this page.

Where does the route go?

Day one takes in Kelor Island, snorkelling at Manjarite and the bat flight at sunset off Kalong Island. Day two is sunrise on Padar, Pink Beach, the Komodo dragons, Taka Makassar and Manta Point. Day three is a last snorkel at Kanawa or Siaba, then back in Labuan Bajo around 11 am. The order can shift with the weather, and the captain makes that call.

Can you charter the whole boat?

Yes. Vhalé is also available as a private charter for large families, company trips or groups of friends. Charter prices are per boat and depend on the length of the trip and the number of guests, so we send them on WhatsApp once your dates and group size are clear.

How do you book?
