About this trip
Sea Familia I is a 25 metre wooden phinisi with 6 cabins and room for up to 12 guests. The trip runs 3 days and 2 nights out of Labuan Bajo as a sharing trip, so you pay per person. Prices start at IDR 5,850,000 per person in a Turtle Cabin and IDR 6,850,000 in a Manta Cabin.
What sets it apart from boats in the same class: a round jacuzzi on the foredeck, and every cabin has air conditioning and its own bathroom. There is no budget cabin with a shared bathroom down the hall. Even the cheapest room gives you your own shower.
What is the boat like?
It is 25 metres long and 5.3 metres wide, built in 2019 from ironwood and teak. The engine is a Mitsubishi 6D16 and it cruises at around 6 knots. The fresh water tank holds 7,000 litres, so a proper rinse after snorkelling is not a luxury. A small 40 hp tender takes you to beaches and snorkel spots.
There are three shared spaces. The sundeck up top is laid with artificial grass, white loungers and floor cushions facing the mast, the best seat on board for sunset. Up front there is a sunken round sofa around a wooden table. And there is an indoor dining room with a long table by the windows, so meals do not depend on the weather.
Who is it right for?
Couples and pairs of friends get the most out of it. Every cabin sleeps two in a queen bed, so you get a room to yourselves without chartering the whole boat.
Travelling as three? Manta Cabin I takes one extra bed, IDR 4,795,000 for the third guest. Small families with one child usually pick this.
If you are travelling solo, honestly, this boat is not the best fit. The cabins are doubles, so a room to yourself means paying for 2 places. Message us first and we will look for a date with a cabin mate or another boat that sells single berths.
A group of 10 to 12? Look at chartering the whole boat too. Send your dates and group size on WhatsApp and our team will send the price.
What are the cabins like?
There are two types, and the difference is the deck and the price.
Manta Cabin I to IV are on the main deck at IDR 6,850,000 per person. The windows are wide, nearly wall to wall, and you see the sea straight from the bed, with the deck netting just outside. The queen bed sits on a wooden frame, with a small side shelf for your phone and blinds if you want the room dark.
Turtle Cabin I and II are on the upper deck at IDR 5,850,000 per person. They are more compact with smaller windows, but the headboard is a slatted wooden panel lit from behind, which gives the room a warm glow at night. If you only need a room to sleep in and plan to spend the day on the sundeck, Turtle saves you IDR 1,000,000 per person.
All six cabins have air conditioning and a private bathroom with a western toilet and shower.
What about meals and facilities?
Included: breakfast, lunch and dinner throughout the trip, afternoon snacks and juice, unlimited mineral water, coffee and tea, snorkel gear (mask and snorkel), a local guide, life jackets and first aid on board.
Not included: fuel at IDR 450,000 per person, 1.1% tax on the cabin price, and the Komodo National Park fee, IDR 350,000 for Indonesian citizens and IDR 650,000 for foreign visitors. Flights, hotels before and after the trip, and crew tips are also extra. Fins are not provided, so bring your own if you like using them.
For evenings there is karaoke and music. If you are not a strong swimmer, wear a life jacket every time you snorkel; the crew always has them ready.
Where does the route go?
Day one you board at KP3 Harbour in Labuan Bajo around 10 to 11 in the morning, hike the short ridge on Kelor Island, snorkel at Manjarite, then spend the late afternoon at Kalong Island watching thousands of flying foxes leave the mangroves.
Day two starts in the dark for sunrise on Padar Island. Then Pink Beach, a ranger-led walk on Komodo Island, a swim with manta rays at Manta Point, and the sandbar at Taka Makassar.
Day three is a last snorkel at Kanawa or Siaba before you are back in Labuan Bajo around 11. That still works for an afternoon flight, but do not book one that is too tight.
The order can shift with currents and weather, and the captain has the final say.
How do I book?

Cabins
Main deck · 2 paxManta Cabin I
The Manta cabin has a wide window facing the Labuan Bajo water, so your first morning starts with the sea and the harbour hills. Queen bed with a wooden headboard, a small side shelf for your phone and bits, and blinds on the glass if you want the room dark. This photo was taken in one of the Manta cabins; all four sell at the same price.
Main deck · 2 paxManta Cabin II
Queen bed on a wooden frame with a side shelf, a wooden louvre above the wall for airflow, and the deck netting visible through the window. The floor is dark timber, so the cabin reads cooler than the ones facing straight into the light. This photo was taken in one of the Manta cabins.
Main deck · 2 paxManta Cabin III
Manta Cabin III is the same class as Manta I and II: queen bed, sea-facing window, same price at IDR 6,850,000 per person. This photo was taken in one of the Manta cabins, not specifically cabin III.
Main deck · 2 paxManta Cabin IV
Manta Cabin IV is the same class as Manta I to III: queen bed on the main deck, IDR 6,850,000 per person. This photo was taken in one of the Manta cabins, not specifically cabin IV.
Upper deck · 2 paxTurtle Cabin I
The Turtle cabin sits on the upper deck. The headboard is a slatted wooden panel with lighting behind it, so at night the room is warm rather than glaring. The window is smaller than in a Manta cabin and comes with a blind. This is the cheapest cabin on Sea Familia I at IDR 5,850,000 per person. This photo was taken in one of the Turtle cabins.
Upper deck · 2 paxTurtle Cabin II
Turtle Cabin II is the twin of Turtle Cabin I on the upper deck: queen bed, backlit timber headboard, IDR 5,850,000 per person. This photo was taken in one of the Turtle cabins.

Day 15 stops
- 10:00-11:00 - Board at KP3 Harbour in Labuan Bajo, meet the crew and settle into your cabin.
- Kelor Island - An easy trek up the ridge. Short but steep, and the cluster of islands opens up from the top.
- Manjarite - A relaxed snorkel in clear water over shallow reef and reef fish.
- Kalong Island - We anchor in the late afternoon and wait for thousands of flying foxes to leave the mangroves as the sun drops.
- Overnight on board.

Day 26 stops
- Padar Island - We leave in the dark to catch sunrise. The climb is real, and what waits at the top is the three-bay view Komodo is known for.
- Pink Beach - The sand is pink from broken coral. You can swim and snorkel straight off the beach.
- Komodo Island - A trek with a national park ranger to see the dragons in their own habitat. The ranger sets the route and the distance.
- Manta Point - A swim looking for manta rays. It depends on the current and the sea that day.
- Taka Makassar - A sandbar that surfaces at low tide, good for photos and a snorkel along its edge.
- Overnight on board.

Day 33 stops
- Kanawa or Siaba Island - A last snorkel in clear water. Turtles pass through Siaba often.
- Around 11:00 - Back alongside at KP3 Harbour in Labuan Bajo.
- That leaves room for an afternoon flight, but do not book one too tight.
