About this trip

Sora is a new boat running the 3 day, 2 night Komodo route from Labuan Bajo, sold per person rather than as a whole-boat charter. It is a multi-deck motor yacht, built without phinisi sailing masts, so what you board is a boat with wide decks, not a masted wooden ship. It is 34 metres long and 7.2 metres wide, with 10 cabins and room for up to 24 guests.

Per-person prices start at IDR 4,750,000 for a berth in the Sharing Cabin and go up to IDR 6,950,000 for a Master Cabin. Because the boat is large and has many cabins, one departure can hold solo travellers, couples and groups at the same time without feeling cramped.

What is the boat like?

Sora has three decks. The main deck holds 8 private cabins and an open-sided dining area, so the sea becomes the wall. The upper deck holds the 2 Sharing Cabins and a second dining table. At the bow, below the wheelhouse, a sundeck is laid out with daybeds for lounging or watching the sunset. Gross tonnage is 173 GT with a draft of 2.8 metres. It runs on two 8DC11 engines with two 33 kVA generators, and navigates with Garmin GPS. The meeting point is Labuan Bajo harbour, so there is no extra crossing to another island first.

Who is it right for?

For solo travellers, Sora is one of the best fits because the Sharing Cabin is sold per bed. You pay for one berth and share the cabin with other guests, rather than paying for a whole cabin. For couples, the Signature Cabin and the Master Cabin both have a queen bed and a private bathroom. For groups of friends or families, 10 cabins on one boat mean you can still travel together even when budgets differ.

What are the cabins like?

Prices below are per person for the 3 day, 2 night trip.

  • •Master Cabin, 2 cabins on the main deck, queen bed, windows on both sides of the bed, IDR 6,950,000.
  • •Signature Cabin, 6 cabins on the main deck, queen bed, Japanese-style wood panelling and a long window facing the sea, IDR 6,500,000.
  • •Sharing Cabin, 2 cabins on the upper deck, 4 single beds per cabin, sold per bed, IDR 4,750,000.

All 10 cabins are air-conditioned and have a bathroom inside the cabin, the Sharing Cabin included.

What about food and facilities?

All meals on board are included, plus snacks, coffee, tea and free-flow drinking water. There is karaoke for the evenings, and kayaks and paddleboards for stops with shallow water. Snorkeling gear is provided for every guest.

Where does the route go?

Day one leaves Labuan Bajo harbour between 10.00 and 11.00, with a trek to the Kelor Island viewpoint, snorkeling at Manjarite, and an evening at Kalong Island as thousands of bats fly out at sunset. Day two starts with a sunrise trek on Padar for the three-bay panorama, then Pink Beach, a ranger-led trek to see Komodo dragons, and Taka Makassar and Manta Point. On day three the boat heads back and docks at the harbour before noon.

What is included?

Included: two nights in your cabin, all meals plus snacks, coffee, tea, drinking water, snorkeling gear, a local guide, the boat clearance fee, and 2 transfers (airport/hotel/KP3 harbour). Not included: flights and insurance, alcohol and personal spending, the ranger fee, and the Komodo National Park entrance ticket, IDR 350,000 for Indonesian citizens and IDR 650,000 for foreign visitors.

How do I book?

You can book Sora on this page: pick a date, pick a cabin, then pay at checkout. For dates, we suggest talking to our team first so you get the best option, especially if you are after a Master Cabin, since there are only two. And if Sora is not free on the date you want, our team will offer you other boats of the same standard.

To avoid fraud, always transact through this website or through the official OpenTripKomodo contact number, +62 813 5347 7978.

The Komodo National Park entrance ticket is not included in the price, and you can add it at checkout if you would rather pay for it together with your trip.
